I now have a copy ofthis edition of The Hobbit. I won it on eBay for about $20. It is a beautiful green leatherette hardcover book in a green leatherette slipcase. It features several color illustrations by Tolkien, as well as a good number of his ink drawings. Pictured at left is the slipcase. I plan to add a few scans of my own to show more of what this edition looks like. If you need more info, please feel free to write me.

There are also numerous pen-and-ink drawings which are black on a yellow background (black on a green background in the green edition), including the large beautiful maps at the beginning and end of the book.
